On days like today, when few coaching appointments are scheduled, I find myself delving deeper into social media, hoping to encounter likes on my latest post or inquiries. Just before contemplating what more I can do to grow my business, I am reminded that even though I enjoy coaching and derive meaning from it, coaching isn't more important than this moment.
In my journey toward the top of the mountain, the path there is as significant as arriving there. And is there a "there" at all? Or once I reach the top of my mountain, will I simply see the next higher summit I will "have" to climb?
I realize how important it is to acknowledge the place I am at. Here I am, building a new enterprise, coping with challenges, being creative, sometimes wise, sometimes lazy and getting to know myself better. I keep moving forward, feeling the pull to connect and support others. But I remind myself not to get lost in this quest. Not to turn this moment to a means to an end. This moment too holds life and beauty.
I'm not at the top of the mountain, but it's magical here too. Even when we feel the urge to move forward, we feel it at this moment. Continuing our journey and taking steps towards our goal is important to us, but growth can be achieved while we are aware and connected to what is.When I reflect on the experiences that got me here, all the small "insignificant" steps that brought me to this point, I appreciate where I am. It's a blessing to be exactly here, and I'm grateful, regardless of where I'll be tomorrow.
How do you celebrate your (small) achievements?
