Is it our duty to make an effort and share our gift with the world?
I enjoy what I consider to be my real work, the conversations with my clients. What I enjoy less is the necessary effort required to reach these clients, meaning marketing and sales. I find client acquisition the less fun part of my business, and like many others, I tend to neglect it. Staying in our comfort zone, and not actively spreading our message might feel safe, but the price is high. First, the growth of our enterprise is being slowed down. And second, the world is missing our service! If you believe you can support others, isn't it your duty to do so? Isn't hiding your gift from the world a "crime"?
Understanding and internalising that our service can truly help others, makes it easier to approach them. Looking at our sales pitch as a "win- win", instead of "I need something from this person" lights the dynamics in a different way. We care for the other, and for ourselves, and when we reach out, while harnessing this care, the interaction turns from an act of sale, to mutual support.
"The comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there."
What motivates you to step out of your comfort zone?
