Coping with fear.

It was an intense weekend. My daughter is in her exams period of her last high school year. Her stress and concern about the future took us to a deep dive into fear. We would all like to be able to perform, and always be at our best. Especially in moments that influence our future. It could be a job interview, an exam or a concert, but fear is holding us back. What a nuisance... I just want to be myself. Strong, smart, appealing, why doesn't this sensation leave me alone?

I believe it is important to recognise that we are feeling fear. To acknowledge the feeling, without suppressing it. Fear is part of our lives, and its intentions are to protect us. I'm not saying I enjoy feeling fear, but when I dive into the sensations, I realize they're not terrible. It's an energy which keeps me alert, and wanting it to go away doesn't help. What does? Maybe concentrating on this moment? On the task we are executing, without worrying about the outcome?

Breathing, acknowledging there is no real danger, and taking this small step we know we can?
